The Decision Making in Sleep Surgery workshop
Details about the course
The Decision Making in Sleep Surgery workshop is designed for clinicians involved in the surgical management of sleep-disordered breathing, particularly Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). This workshop aims to enhance participants' understanding of the critical factors that influence surgical decision-making processes. The course begins with a comprehensive overview of the various surgical options available for OSA, including uvulopalatopharyngoplasty (UPPP), maxillomandibular advancement (MMA), and hypoglossal nerve stimulation. Participants will learn to evaluate patient-specific factors such as anatomy, comorbidities, and previous treatment responses to determine the most appropriate surgical intervention. Interactive case discussions will play a key role in the workshop, allowing attendees to analyze real-life scenarios, consider patient history, and review diagnostic findings. The emphasis will be on a multidisciplinary approach, encouraging collaboration among dental, medical, and surgical specialists to optimize patient outcomes. Furthermore, participants will explore postoperative considerations, including recovery, adherence to therapy, and long-term follow-up strategies. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have gained valuable insights into effective decision-making in sleep surgery, equipping them to provide personalized treatment plans that enhance patient quality of life and manage sleep-disordered breathing effectively.
